Hilarious day of Ethan

Today Ethan has been cracking me up. The kid is full of energy today and silly things come from his mouth.
Ethan's phrase for this week is now "for Pete's sake!" and is no longer "sweet babies!"
He also stated having a headache and this is how the convo went: "You have a headache? Do you know what a headache feels like?" Ethan:"Yea, it's spinning and just spinning, my head."
Then after we got back from a quick errand I asked him to please go use the potty. (His mom has been letting him poop his pants and he's done it here a few times now which is NOT ok) He used the bathroom and as I was getting Emery gathered up I asked if he went poop and he said no. I then proceeded to ask him to please go potty and try to go poop because we weren't going to deal with poopy pants tonight. "Ok!" As I'm getting Emery into pajamas I hear, "Kaylaaaa, I went poooop for you!"Nathan heard it as well and we were both laughing.
These boys have me totally ready to document all the hilarious things that I hope Emery says.

Kiddy Survey

Cute little survey that I'm going to start doing with the boys. I can't wait till Emery is old enough to participate!

25 Manners Kids Should Know

I love this: 25 Manners Kids Should Know I found this on pinterest though I've seen it around the internet numerous times.

I am going to teach the boys this. Emery will definitely grow up to be a polite boy, I will accept nothing less.  Here we go!

#1: When asking for something, say "Please."
#2: When receiving something, say "Thank you."
#3: Do not interrupt grown-ups who are speaking with each other unless there is an emergency. They will notice you and respond when they are finished talking.
#4: If you do need to get somebody's attention right away, the phrase "excuse me" is the most polite way for you to enter the conversation.
#5: When you have any doubt about doing something, ask permission first. It can save you from many hours of grief later.
#6: The world is not interested in what you dislike. Keep negative opinions to yourself, or between you and your friends, and out of earshot of adults.
#7: Do not comment on other people's physical characteristics unless, of course, it's to compliment them, which is always welcome.
#8: When people ask you how you are, tell them and then ask them how they are.
#9: When you have spent time at your friend's house, remember to thank his or her parents for having you over and for the good time you had.
#10: Knock on closed doors -- and wait to see if there's a response -- before entering.
#11: When you make a phone call, introduce yourself first and then ask if you can speak with the person you are calling.
#12: Be appreciative and say "thank you" for any gift you receive. In the age of e-mail, a handwritten thank-you note can have a powerful effect.
#13: Never use foul language in front of adults. Grown-ups already know all those words, and they find them boring and unpleasant.
#14: Don't call people mean names.
#15: Do not make fun of anyone for any reason. Teasing shows others you are weak, and ganging up on someone else is cruel.
#16: Even if a play or an assembly is boring, sit through it quietly and pretend that you are interested. The performers and presenters are doing their best.
#17: If you bump into somebody, immediately say "Excuse me."
#18: Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and don't pick your nose in public. #19: As you walk through a door, look to see if you can hold it open for someone else. #20: If you come across a parent, a teacher, or a neighbor working on something, ask if you can help. If they say "yes," do so -- you may learn something new.
#21: When an adult asks you for a favor, do it without grumbling and with a smile.
#22: When someone helps you, say "thank you." That person will likely want to help you again. This is especially true with teachers!
#23: Use eating utensils properly. If you are unsure how to do so, ask your parents to teach you or watch what adults do.
#24: Keep a napkin on your lap; use it to wipe your mouth when necessary.
#25: Don't reach for things at the table; ask to have them passed.

7 1/2 Month Update

Emery Jacob,

You amaze me everyday. I love to just sit and watch you learn. How smart you're becoming, how you're so curious and you want to constantly explore.

You used to be so anti cuddly except with your daddy because you can sprawl out on his long body. Now you've become a cuddly boy. You like to lay your head on my chest and cuddle with me, to curl up with me on the couch and take a little nap.

You love my phone. You hold it with both your hands and the pointer finger of your right hand rolls the ball. Then it moves to the charger port and you run the tip of your finger over it and click your nail on it. You examine every side of it, turning it every which way. You do the same thing with any toy you play with.

You like to talk, especially in the car. You bite the binky in the corner of your mouth and say ayiyiyiyiyiyi as loud as you can and your daddy and I laugh. We think you are just the silliest thing there is.

You know what "no" means. Gamma was telling Hadley "NO" and you started crying every time because you thought she was saying it to you. When we tell you at home you stop and look at us. Sometimes you try again until we tell you know. You especially know when you bite me nursing and I say "NO" and you start crying.

You starting to use a sippy cup. You still haven't gotten the hang of it yet though.

You're SO close to crawling. About 3 or 4 days ago you finally started going backwards. You get your body lifted off the floor but you move your hands backwards and push yourself backwards. Soon you'll get the hang of getting up on your knees and going forwards. Our life is going to be full of adventure then! Your dadda is so ready for all this and I like you being stationary. You refuse to sit for long, you immediately are pushing yourself around and stretching your go-go-gadget arms to get things you want.

You are sleeping through the night again. 12 hours! I'm going to try to start weaning you from the binky. I try to take it away during the day and just use it for upset times, bedtime and naps.

You have gotten quite the temper. The other night you were trying to play at dinner
Every time I told him "no" he turned BRIGHT RED,scrunched up his face and literally started yelling/growling out of frustration. You randomly just started doing it when i wasn't telling you know so I thought something else was wrong and you proceeded to bite my face twice. At that point I had to tell you what you did was naughty etc etc and put you into your crib for your first time out.

You were also nursing and you weren't getting much milk (my supply has dropped) and you got really mad, turned red, started your "aruggggh" sound and then bit me!
I love when you sit on the floor and stare off at nothing and talk. And you hold up your binky and put it in your mouth and spin it the right way. You make the silliest noises. I was changing your diaper and you were saying ahbaba. It sounded like you said apple quite a few times but then you went back to your ahh bahbahbah sound.
You make me smile all day long. You are the highlight of everyday and I'm always looking forward to your smooches. Half the time I'm bugging your dadda to let me wake you up from a nap so I can see your precious face and love on you.
I'm desperately trying to hold onto all these little moments. To remember every little thing about you and your innocence. I'm so afraid that I will forget how cute and chubby your little fingers are, how long your legs look compared to your body, your soft downy little head of blonde hair, your thick fat feet, you chunky thighs and crooked little butt crack. I don't want to forget a single thing about your babyhood because it is all flying by too quickly.
I love you so much and I hope you never ever question that!

Dear Emery, 7 Months

My sweet Emery,

You are 7 months old today. I laid in bed this morning thinking of the day I went into labor and the days after in the hospital.

You are still such a serious boy. You look at everything, touch everything, move it between your hands studying every part of it. Then it goes straight into your mouth and you smile around it at us.

Everyone says you are such a happy baby and it is so true. You smile and smile unless you're bored or tired and then you get a little fussy.

Not much has changed from the past months except weight. You are now 18lbs 13oz and you are on the verge of crawling. You're rocking forward and figuring out how to rotate on your legs. You've face planted a few times so dadda and I think you aren't quite brave enough to try to start moving yet. I'm sure within the next week you'll be going....and you won't stop once that happens!

Grandma Rachel calls you "smiley" because that's all you do when she sees you. In February we are going to MT to visit Gamma, Kassie and Haddie. I keep telling you about Grandpa Travis and Great Gramma and Papa. I can't wait for them to meet you as they will just adore you! I hope Grandpa Travis comes to town to meet you and Haddie for the first time, but who knows. Either way you have plenty of family who loves you and makes you a big priority in their life.

You still hate just "meat" food. I can't mix more than a spoonful in with your veggies or you get all gaggy. Dadda and I understand that they smell pretty foul and probably taste the same. I just want you to be getting the iron and protein from them. Today you ate your apples and cherries for breakfast and were still hungry so you finished up the Macaroni and Beef with vegetables from dinner last night. I secretly put a spoonful of the plain beef in with it and you managed to eat it just fine. For lunch you had green beans and pears and I put a spoonful of ham in it. Gag, gag, gag. So I mixed the little bit of applesauce you had in with it and we were good to go. You just need more flavor I guess.

You LOVE yogurts. I can't feed you it fast enough. You also love the Gerber Puffs. Strawberry Banana is what these are. Daddy said the other day you were squawking and getting all pissed off and NOTHING was making you happy. He saw those and pulled them out and you got sooo excited and stopped fussing and ate about 20 of them.

When you get excited you clench and unclench your fists. You are so adorable. I'm trying to sign "more" to you when you want more so maybe you'll learn to tell us that way.

You love bouncing in the bouncer but seem to be burnt out on it so I've been putting you back in the exersaucer thing to play and you're happy with that. You found the door on the house a few weeks back and you smile at yourself in the mirror inside it. You love mirrors, I think you find yourself pretty handsome, which is absolutely correct!

Your bumbo aka Bumbobee (credit to brudder Ethan) is no longer an option. We used to sit you in it and put it on the table so you could eat dinner with us and you'd do fine. Now you twist around to look at everything and nearly fall out. We were playing poker and you wanted something behind you and turned....tip, tip, tip. I shrieked for you to sit down and griped at dadda that he should have been acting sooner and not watching you curious if you'd balance yourself. You are SO crazy! So after that we will no longer be using the bumbo except on the floor for breakfast. This morning however I sat you on the floor to eat to try it. May need the bumbo as you kept scooting yourself around to watch everything and not paying attention to eating.

I'll add more to this if I can think of other things. I need to start keeping a notebook so I don't miss a thing when it comes to your monthly letters.

You are the sunshine in our lives little man. You make every single day so wonderful. You can't help but to cheer everyone up with your toothy grin and laughs. You are such a blessing in our lives and we all love you so incredibly much!

Love mama!

is on it's way into winter. There are not many of my favorite colors loading down the trees. The weight has been lifted off the branches and they have a breather before the snow and ice cover them.

The leaves are blowing across the road and driveway and it seems no one is out and about to today. They must all be snuggled up inside their warm homes watching the trees sway with the chilly breeze and the sky turn grey.

At least that is what I am doing. Daddy left to work, Emery went down for a nap and I'm sitting on the couch with the computer and the heater blowing on my feet. A game, work stuff, scrap booking pages, photos etcetera. I have so much to do but some of it takes so long that I'd don't get far. Like photos. Uploading, editing, saving, organizing. I wish there was a way to do it faster.

I got an awesome tripod at Costco that came with a camera bag, some polarizer lenses and a converter for memory cards. The photoshop was also on sale so I picked that up. Tax write off for my businesses. I admit that I haven't even had the time to upload it onto the computer.

The one plus to being self employed is that I can be more than one thing. Nail tech and photographer. Next to my list a smaller lens so I can start doing more projects and hopefully start building a portfolio and gaining clients. I want to make money doing what I love.

I guess I have all winter to save for another lens as I'm not brave enough to venture out. I'd be terrified of slipping on ice and falling on my camera or some crazy stuff. Along with having to tote my monster sized baby around? I'll pass.

Time for an latte and some more relaxing until the hellion wakes.

2nd opinion with the Surgeon.

After we had our horrible appointment with the Pediatric Urologist for Emery's adhesion I asked for a 2nd opinion. Unfortunately there are no other Pediatric Urologists in Spokane to do so, so they set us up with an appointment with the Pediatric Surgeon.

We took him in this morning and are much happier with the answer. I was mentally preparing myself for my sweet boy to have to be put under general anesthesia, receive a shot at the base of his spine to numb him from the waist down and then be re-circumcised.

The urologist had told us that the adhesion was only at the bottom part of the head of his penis and to only put the steroid cream on that part and to do that for six weeks! Then if that didn't loosen it up that he had to have surgery.

The surgeon today said that the adhesion is all around the head of his penis. He is giving us a different prescription for a steroid to put all around the head of it and we are to push the skin around it down so that it hopefully pulls away from the head.

If that doesn't work, in 3 weeks they give us a numbing prescription to put on the head of his little part and then cover it with saran wrap so that it doesn't smear off on his diaper. It has to be on for at least an hour prior to his appointment so that it is numbed and then somehow he will remove the skin from the head of it. His terminology was "break it". I don't like that when it comes to my baby and his body! I think he means break the seal of the skin attached. He said its an in office procedure, no surgery required (thank goodness!) and then we just have to keep Vaseline on it so it doesn't re-adhere.

That takes a load of stress off me since I was really worried about him having to have a surgery and wake up groggy and not like himself. The thought of leaving him with all these doctors who are strapping him down and putting a mask on his face with no mommy or daddy around to comfort him was breaking my freaking heart!

So here's to hoping that us using this cream and pulling the skin down ourselves will do the trick and we won't need any procedure or numbing cream!

Lazy mama

I need to write the post about the give away and provide the link but I'm so lazy...(read as "tired"). I don't have the brain power to compile all of it.

I'm cranky. I tripped over the new Lego Minotaurus game that's sitting in front of the couch and wanted to destroy it right then and there. I am no longer allowing the purchases of games as they never freaking get put away! DRIVES ME INSANE!

I need to research another lens for my camera and Costco has Photoshop going on sale so I will be purchasing that. Maybe I can watch some tutorials and play around and start taking on mini shoots for some extra money.

Emery is *nearly pinches fingertips* this close to crawling. He got the 2nd leg out from under him but then went splat onto his belly. I guarantee in the next week he will be crawling.

Thursday is his appointment with the Pediatric Surgeon. I made an appointment with them for the second opinion on whether he will need re-circumcised or not. Crossing my fingers that he won't have to be. I'm having anxiety thinking of him being put under general anesthesia.

Also nixed the Facebook for awhile. I'm tired of people not being supportive of anything most of the time, or speaking their opinion on shit they don't know about. Should save me a lot of time during my day and ensures I take more time with my son. He's growing so fast and this is time I will never get back.

I think that's about all my brain can handle tonight, I'm ready for bed but gotta keep the babe up a little longer. Think we'll go cuddle till his bedtime :)

So my blog was selected to host a give away. It is for a digital scrap booking program. I downloaded a copy and have been playing around with it to create a couple samples before I share with everyone about the give away.

I just spent about an hour making these two pages and surprisingly it was very easy and I had a lot of fun and no frustration.

Check them out and let me know what you think and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post more information for the give away :)

Out of the mouths of babes.

I must say "Emery just calllm down" because I hear Emery in the boys' room playing big Lego's with them/watching them. I hear him do a grunt which I'm guessing is him stretching backwards in the bumbo (he's not going to last much longer in that thing) and Ethan says to him, "Emery, just calm down."

Seems like Ethan is always copying the things I say to Emery and says them to him later on.

I think it's pretty amusing, I can't wait to hear what else he says in the future!

Poor Boy

Emery is sick. He's got a stuffy nose and a cough. I do not like the cough but he's OK. He's still such a happy boy. He's slept through the night the past two nights. I was surprised since he only had 4 oz to drink last night before bed and slept till 8am!

Also, about the urology appointment. The adhesion is pretty bad and the little hole is too small. They gave us a prescription for a steroid cream which we have to put on him twice a day and hope it thins out the skin and fixes itself. If not then in 6 weeks we stop the cream, go for another consultation and they have to re-circumcise him. I'm so sad for my baby!

They'd have to give him a little shot in the muscle at the bottom of his spine, top of his butt to numb him from the waist down and then put him under general anesthesia. That terrifies me and my niece quit breathing when she was put under for her MRI a couple months ago and a cousin's son had the same issue.

I about lose my mind thinking of anything happening to my precious boy!

So I'm praying that this gets better and we won't have to have him re-circumcised. I'm upset the doctor never told us that because of his little fat pocket that it could re-adhere and to keep putting Vaseline on him even after it's healed to prevent the adhesion's. I'm so glad we see another doctor that works in his office instead of him because he's not very nice. He could have educated us on this to prevent this from happening.

Right now he is the happiest boy. He just discovered the door on the little house on his toy opens it so he is opening and closing it. He's talking to the sunflower and smacking it on the roof and making noises as he makes the other flower fly across the front of his face. The boy is just too smart.

Last night he was also talking in his sleep. Auntie Kass dropped us off at home and as I was unbuckling the seat belt in the car he was asleep but talking. *I have noooo idea where he gets that from ;)*
